The FMCIA was formed in 2016 by applicants for cultivation, processing and dispensary licenses to ensure that our concerns as well as the needs of patients were being communicated to the Florida Department of Health Office of Compassionate Use.
We hold meetings once per quarter to exchange ideas, monitor developing legislation, discuss patient and physician education/outreach and much more. By joining the FMCIA you gain access to our incredible network of members. Our network often shares important insights, access to information and provides a unified voice for addressing our concerns If you plan on submitting an application for a MMTC (medical marijuana treatment center) and would like to be a part and shape how the program develops, then join the FMCIA today. Currently there is no membership fee to join.
Physician participation is critical to the success of the Florida medical cannabis program. Since 20154 we have worked hard provide medical cannabis education opportunities for physicians. Join the thousands of physicians that have registered on the Office of Compassionate Use website to recommend medical cannabis to their patients.
All licensed Florida physicians in good standing are encouraged to join FMCIA. A partnership between physicians, patients and the emerging industry will help Florida to have the best medical cannabis program in the country.
The FMCIA understands the struggles that Florida patients have endured as they wait for medical cannabis to become available. In 2015 the Florida House and Senate passed a Medical Cannabis bill that allows only a small amount of patients with epilepsy and terminal cancer to access the medicine they need to live. The FMCIA acts as an advocate on behalf of patients, pushing for laws and regulations that will ensure safe access to medical marijuana medicine in Florida. Patients are encouraged to attend our meetings and join our organization.
We welcome companies and individuals that provide products and services to the medical cannabis industry. The majority of our membership consists of Florida business owners who would like to enter into a projected $1.5 billion dollar industry by 2020 according to ArcView Group, a California based market research firm. Your membership in the FMCIA demonstrates to our members that you are serious and committed to the Florida medical cannabis industry.
